Challah

Sing to the tune of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”

I’ve been stressed out just working all week long.
And in my heart I wish to chill… and sing some songs.
Shabbat is always waiting Friday night.
Challah! Is it you that tastes so right?

You are not like a baguette
Or a loaf of garlic bread.
God commanded us to bless you
So that no one’s left unfed.
Tell me how to braid your loaves
Cuz I haven’t got a clue
But let me start by saying… “Barechu.”

We light the candles when the sun goes down.
And ask our friends and family members… to gather ‘round.
We bless the wine and thank God for our week.
Challah! Now it’s you we’re gonna eat!

Cuz you’re not like sourdough.
And you’re nothing like whole wheat.
You are made with eggs and sugar
As a special sabbath treat
Tell me how to braid your loaves
And I’ll try it once again.
Ha-motzi lechem min ha-aretz… Amen.

Why make an account?

Because why use any of your precious brain cells to remember where you kept those great readings that you’ll use someday at Jeffrey’s B Mitzvah? Make an account, keep the readings there. Easy peasy. The only thing you’ll need to remember is your password, and from personal experience that’s hard enough.
