Damn right we're on a mission
We organized exactly what we believe in - that should help keep your criticism organized.
JewBelong’s mission is to welcome people to Judaism with Jewish readings and rituals that many people can relate to. And guess what, JewBelong isn’t for everyone.
It should not be shocking that people disagree with us. Hell, Jews have a hard time agreeing on anything, you really think they are all going to agree that JewBelong is fab?! No f*#king chance.
Maybe you think religion has to be serious all the time. Or maybe you think that being a more observant Jew makes you a better Jew. Or you plain old disagree with our approach and think that Judaism without the focus on the rules and spending time in synagogue isn’t real Judaism. Or, you like your great Grandpa’s Judaism. You be you. You may be tempted to write and tell us, “You forgot to tell people to sprinkle salt on their challah before ripping instead of cutting it.” Or maybe, “You really should have all of the blessings also in Hebrew.” Or, “How come you don’t have a much larger section on Purim?” Or, “You should have more recipes.” And on and on. Well, thanks, and feel free to be in touch, but just so you know, we’re focused on the big picture, which is to help people who are often disengaged from Judaism, find all the richness, joy, and spirituality at the heart of the religion, even if that means doing it while driving in a car and eating a cheeseburger on a Friday night.
If someone wants a deep dive into Purim, there’s always Google. And if you are wondering, we have talked with plenty of rabbis who are big fans of JewBelong. We love them back!
